Weekend Ahead: March 6-8

BE SEEN
The weather is finally getting warmer. (What was with all that snow anyway? Isn’t it March? In the South?) Anyway, this means it’s the perfect chance to head to the historical NoDa neighborhood and mingle with artists and local hipsters at their Friday night Gallery Crawl tonight. www.noda.org

ROLL THE DICE
Are you feeling lucky? Young Professionals of Mecklenburg County’s Community Health Services are hosting a Casino night at Extravaganza Depot on Saturday night from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Eat, drink, and play some of your favorite casino games (with fake money). Tickets are $45 in advance and $60 at the door. www.chscasinonight.com

PLAY
If there was ever a game that I was terrible at, it was beer pong. It’s a miracle I made it through college nightlife with my total lack of skills at this game. However, I know there are some of you out there who have just been craving the chance to a) show off your skills at tossing ping pong balls into cups of beer and b) finally have all those hours you’ve spent doing it pay off. Well, your day has come. On Saturday, at Alley Cat, you can enter the world championship qualifier. And if you qualify? You’re one step closer to competing in those championships in Atlantic City in June for $25,000. The competition goes from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Good luck! www.lazyday.com

LISTEN
Billy Joel and Elton John’s Face 2 Face Tour is hitting North Carolina on Saturday night at 7:30. The two superstars perform some of their greatest hits solo and as a duet in Time Warner Cable Arena. We don’t need to explain to you how good this concert will be. Ticket prices range from $53.50 to $179. www.ticketmaster.com

WATCH
So, apparently there’s some ACC basketball game on Sunday afternoon that’s supposedly a big deal. Duke (No.7) is taking on North Carolina (No. 2) in Chapel Hill. And I guess a lot of people care about this. If you happen to be one of those people, Wild Wing Café in University City is hosting “I Bleed Blue” from 1 to 9 p.m. (the game’s at 4) with UNC alumni Raymond Felton hosting so you can celebrate with fans from either side. Personally, I’ll be in Winston-Salem watching the best team, Wake Forest, take on Clemson. But, you know, do what you want.
