Trend on Trial: Long Cardigans

I owned one awesome long cardigan sweater back in 1999. It was a blissful black, belted creation from J. Crew, and it was THE must-have on my Christmas list that year, and boy did I wear the devil out of it. So imagine my glee at discovering that this infinitely comfy piece of semi-outwear is back in style this season! The sweater coat cardigan essentially makes it socially acceptable to wear a robe out of the house – please take a moment to absorb the beautiful madness of such a concept.

Cozy and chic? Comfy and flattering? Pinch me, please! Belted, open, buttoned, wrapped – I want them all. The one above from Richard Chai's new collection for Target is already on my shopping list. And you can bet I’ll be adding at least two more of these bad boys to my rotation for fall and winter. I have plans for wearing them with dresses, skirts, boots, skinny jeans, and every other conceivable item in my wardrobe. - J

My verdict: Join me in my wooly warmness, won’t you?

Does it work in Charlotte? I hope. Otherwise I am going to actually look like I'm wearing a robe around town.

What do you think? Are we going to be alone in our preppy/comfy attire this season?
